Getting Started

How do I send a document for signature?

Upload your PDF, place signature and initials fields where required, add the signer's email address, then click Send. The signer receives an email with a unique signing link — no SignZA account is needed for them to sign.

What file formats are supported?

PDF only. Maximum file size is 10MB per document.

Does the signer need a SignZA account?

No. Signers receive a unique link by email and sign directly in their browser. They do not need to register or log in to any account.

Credits & Billing

What is a credit?

One credit equals one document sent for signature. Each time you send a document to one or more signers, one credit is deducted from your monthly allowance. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Once your monthly credits are exhausted, you will not be able to send new documents until your credits reset next month. You can upgrade your plan at any time to increase your monthly allowance immediately.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to your Dashboard, open the Billing tab, and choose the plan that suits your needs. Upgrades take effect immediately and are billed via Paystack.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your plan remains active until the end of your current billing period — you keep access to all paid features until then. No refunds are issued for partial months.

Legal & Security

Are signatures legally valid in South Africa?

Yes. SignZA electronic signatures are legally valid and enforceable under the Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act 25 of 2002, which recognises electronic signatures as legally equivalent to handwritten signatures for most commercial and civil documents.

Where are documents stored?

All documents are stored securely on Supabase servers in the EU region (Frankfurt, Germany), encrypted at rest. Access is strictly controlled and limited to the account holder and designated signers.

How long are signed documents kept?

Signed documents and their audit trails are retained for 7 years from the date of signing, in accordance with South African legal record-keeping requirements. You can download your signed documents at any time from your dashboard.
